What does FFP3 mean?

FFP3 is the highest European safety rating for disposable respirators, defined by standard EN 149:2001 + A1:2009. FFP3 masks filter at least 99% of airborne particles, including very fine and hazardous particulates. They're used in environments with toxic dusts, biological aerosols, or fine fibres where FFP2 is insufficient.

What's the difference between FFP3 and FFP2?

FFP3 masks filter at least 99% of airborne particles. FFP2 masks filter at least 94%. Both are tested to the same European standard, EN 149:2001 + A1:2009. Choose FFP3 for finer or more hazardous particulates — asbestos, lead dust, silica, biological aerosols. Choose FFP2 for general dust, construction, woodworking, and DIY.

Is the D-110C CE certified?

Yes. Every D-110C mask is CE certified under CE 2797 and tested to EN 149:2001 + A1:2009 — the European standard for filtering facepiece respirators. The certification is printed on the mask itself, alongside the FFP3 marking.

Does the D-110C protect against asbestos?

FFP3 masks meet the filtration threshold required for short-term work involving asbestos-containing materials, under EN 149:2001 + A1:2009. For any work with asbestos, follow your country's regulations and use the mask alongside the wider protective equipment your local rules require. The D-110C is single-use and must be disposed of correctly after exposure.

How long can I wear one D-110C mask?

A single FFP3 mask is designed for one shift of normal wear — up to 8 hours. Replace the mask sooner if breathing becomes restricted, the mask becomes visibly soiled or wet, or if you've been in a heavily contaminated environment. Don't fold or crush the mask between uses; it's not designed to recover its shape.

Can I reuse an FFP3 mask?

The D-110C is a disposable mask, not a reusable respirator. It's designed for one work session, then disposed of safely. For reusable protection with equivalent high-grade filtration, the G-750 full-face respirator paired with C-500 P3 cartridges delivers the 99.95% particle filtration of a P3 filter.

What's the carbon layer for?

The D-110C includes an activated carbon layer between the filter layers. Activated carbon absorbs nuisance odours — paint thinners, solvents, smoke, mildew — and reduces the smell while you work. It does not turn the mask into a chemical respirator. For dedicated chemical or vapour protection, use a reusable mask with a certified gas filter like the M-500 A1P2 or M-500 ABEK1-P2.

How do I get a good seal?

Place the mask over your nose and mouth. Pull the lower strap behind your neck and the upper strap across the crown of your head. Tighten both straps for a snug fit — firm against your face, not pinching. Pinch the aluminium nose clip with both hands; using one hand is the most common cause of a poor seal. To check, cup your hands over the mask and breathe in sharply: the mask should draw onto your face.
